Gather all ingredients before starting the recipe.
Combine 1 cup crushed pineapple, 2 tbsp sugar, 5 whole cloves, 1 tsp ground cinnamon and 1 tbsp golden syrup in a medium sized saucepan, stir and bring to a boil, reduce heat to a low simmer.
Stir occassionally to reduce the mixture and continue to gently simmer.
Cook for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the mixture is thick and has turned a golden color.
Remove from heat, allow to come to room temperature and then transfer to a jar with a tight lid and refrigerate.
