Gather all ingredients before starting the recipe.
Melt 1 tbsp unsalted butter in a medium sized sauce pan over medium heat.
Add1 tbsp all-purpose flour and stir to combine, cook for 2 -3 minutes.
Slowly add 1 cup milk 1 and stir with a wire whisk until the sauce thickens and the sauce coats the back of a spoon, about 5-6 minutes.
Add 1 pinch kosher salt to taste.
