Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium high heat, stir until the sugar starts to turn golden brown, about 3 minutes, add pecans and stir to combine.
Pour mixture onto a non-stick sheet of aluminum foil, spread in an even layer and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes.
When completely cooled, break into rough pieces and place inside a plastic bag and crush into smaller pieces.
