Praline is easy to make and it is excellent for decorating cakes or to use as a garnish for desserts. The praline can be prepared with walnuts, pecans, or my favorite, hazelnuts.

  • 3 tbspn sugar
  • 1 tbspn water
  • 1/3 cup roughly chopped pecans

Instructions
  1. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium high heat, stir until the sugar starts to turn a golden brown, about 3 minutes, add pecans and stir to combine.
  2. Pour mixture onto a non-stick sheet of aluminum foil, spread in an even layer and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  3. When completely cooled, break into rough pieces and place inside a plastic bag and crush into smaller pieces.
  4. Sprinkle crushed praline over the frosted cake.
