Gather all ingredients before starting the recipe.
Pre heat oven the 450°F
Cut apples into 8 wedges, core and set aside.
Peel red onion, leave root end intact and then slice into 6 wedges so each wedge remains connected to the end.
Line a sheet pan with non-stick aluminum foil.
Combine apples and onion wedges, season with salt and pepper, drizzle with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a tablespoonful of maple syrup.
Bake in a pre heated oven for 20 minutes, or until the apples and onion have browned and softened.
