Basmati is a variety of long, slender grained slightly aromatic rice which originates from India and is a staple in our house. It is pure white in color and produces separate perfect fluffy kernels when cooked.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup basmati rice
- 1 cup water
- kosher salt to taste
Instructions
Gather all ingredients before starting recipe.
- Melt 1 tbsp unsalted butter in a small saucepan over medium high heat.
- Add 1/2 cup basmati rice and stir to coat the rice completely.
- Season with kosher salt to taste.
- Add 1 cup water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover with a lid and cook until the rice separates and can be fluffed with a fork, about 25 minutes.
