Béchamel Sauce or White Sauce is a base sauce used in many dishes. It is the foundation sauce for such other sauces as cheese sauce, mornay sauce, mac and cheese sauce and lasagna sauce to mention a few.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 pinch kosher salt
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients before starting the recipe.
- Melt 1 tbsp unsalted butter in a medium sized sauce pan over medium heat.
- Add1 tbsp all-purpose flour and stir to combine, cook for 2 -3 minutes.
- Slowly add 1 cup milk 1 and stir with a wire whisk until the sauce thickens and the sauce coats the back of a spoon, about 5-6 minutes.
- Add 1 pinch kosher salt to taste.
