Flowering Crab Apple trees can be fussy. One year they will produce glorious blooms, the next, you will barely see any blooms at all.

I think that the conditions have to just right, warm but not too, wet but not too, a gentle breeze is ok and a bit of light rain, but not too much of anything.

If all of these conditions are met, you will be treated to  a spectacular display of color.

This was the case the year that I took this photo. I could stand under the canopy of the tree and get close enough to get this shot.

The tree is in the front yard and visible from the street and it made a beautiful spring showing. And then it rained and the petals littered the newly mown lawn like confetti.

This can be spring in Ontario!
