A classic British favorite, Eton Mess is wonderful year around, but especially good when we are in strawberry season. The meringue is a must, it just makes the dessert.

Tip : You can purchase meringue nests at most Loblaw stores.

Ingredients 

  • 1 quart fresh strawberries washed, hulled and halved
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 6 oz fresh raspberries
  • 6 oz fresh blackberries
  • whipped cream (canned fresh)
  • 1 package meringue nests crumbled into large pieces

Instructions

  • Gather all ingredients before starting recipe.
  • Hull and halve the strawberries, sprinkle with the sugar and refrigerate for 30 minutes or overnight.
  • Break up the meringue nests into large chunks.
  • Add a large spoonful of strawberries into a glass serving bowl or pretty individual serving glasses, top with a squirt of whipped cream, then a few chunks of meringue, then add blackberries, whipped cream, meringue, then remaining strawberries, meringue, whipped cream and top with raspberries.
