This Hearty Cabbage with Smoked Sausage dish is a quick dinner option for two. It is comfort food at its best and I made it using leftover fresh cabbage and smoked sausage from my fridge. This dish is both a convenient and tasty recipe and it may become one of our favorites!
Ingredients
- 1 medium white potato cubed, and par boiled
- 1/2 lb sliced smoked sausage or kielbasa
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 medium chopped onion
- 1/2 small head white cabbage chopped
- kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Gather all ingredients before starting the recipe.
- Slice 1/2 lb sliced smoked sausage or kielbasa into 1/2" rings and set aside until ready to use.
- Add 1 tbsp olive oil to a medium sized skillet over medium heat and add 1/2 medium chopped onion and 1/2 lb sliced smoked sausage or kielbasa to the pan. Sauté until the sausage and onion begin to brown.
- Add 1/2 small head white cabbage, chopped into 1" squares, and 1 medium white potato, previously parboiled, to the onion mixture. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Toss to combine and sauté for about 5 minutes or until the cabbage has softened.
- Add 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 2 tbsp honey and 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar and stir to combine. Allow to cook for another 1-2 minutes to amalgamate all the flavors.
